🎉 2025 Independence Day Celebration – A Cultural Showcase of Heritage & Dignity! 🎉
On Saturday, October 11, 2025, the Nigerian Association Tyne and Wear (NATW) proudly hosted a spectacular Independence Day Celebration at the Gateshead Leisure Centre Hall. With the theme “Cultural Heritage & Dignity”, the event brought together Nigerians and friends of Nigeria across the North East for an unforgettable day of cultural pride, connection, and celebration.
The programme featured a rich mix of cultural displays, a captivating fashion runway, arts and crafts exhibitions, and a language speaking competition that highlighted the beauty and diversity of Nigeria’s linguistic heritage. Guests also enjoyed delicious traditional dishes, refreshing drinks, and vibrant music and dancing that kept spirits high all afternoon.
From inspiring speeches that reflected on our journey as a people, to joyful expressions of unity and heritage, the event truly captured the strength and resilience of the Nigerian community in the UK.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, the Nigerian Association Tyne and Wear (NATW) hosted a vibrant and fun-filled Family Picnic Celebration, bringing together members, families, and friends for a memorable afternoon of unity and cultural pride.
Set against a sunny backdrop, the event featured an exciting line-up of traditional Nigerian games, delicious barbecue and local delicacies, infectious music, energetic cultural dances, and creative activities for children. The picnic truly had something for everyone – from the young to the young-at-heart.
Beyond the entertainment, the event provided an incredible opportunity to connect, network, and celebrate our shared heritage. The energy, laughter, and sense of belonging were palpable throughout the day.

On June 7, 2025, the Nigerian Association Tyne and Wear (NATW) hosted its Youth and Children’s Day celebration. The well-attended event brought families together for a memorable day filled with fun, culture, and a sense of community spirit. Highlights included traditional Nigerian dances, a colourful fashion parade, and an energetic marching past. Children enjoyed a variety of engaging activities and games, alongside plenty of delicious food. The event successfully showcased the richness of Nigerian culture while creating a joyful atmosphere for young participants. It was truly a day to remember, with smiles all around and lasting memories made. We also want to use this opportunity to express our deep appreciation to the sponsors of this event, Community Fund.
