On October 26, 2024, the Nigerian community in Tyne and Wear, Newcastle, marked Nigeria's Independence Day with a vibrant celebration that brought together Nigerians from across the region. The event was graced by notable attendees, including the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Amb. Tunji Isola and Chi Onwurah, Labour MP for Newcastle Central and West, showing strong support from both the Nigerian and British communities. The day featured an array of engaging activities, including traditional cultural displays, dance, music, and various fun events that celebrated Nigeria’s rich heritage and fostered community spirit.
